Sattler
Vineyards is owned and run by Erich Sattler, trained at the School
of Winemaking in Krems, Austria and at the University of Agriculture
in Vienna. Upon completing his studies, the young wine maker aimed
to transform the fourth generation family winery by combining
his deepened knowledge in wine making with the family's experience
in vineyard cultivation. Most notably, Erich has sought to master
the production of fine wines with the highest international standard
of quality while assuring they maintain a strong regional identity.
Today, Erich is responsible for the production, wine making and
management of the vineyard and is helped by his mother, Regina,
stepfather, Joseph and brother, Kurt. Together their great efforts
and dedication produce some of the region's most beautiful wines.
The family winery maintains 25 acres of vineyards in the village
of Tadten, in the Burgenland region of Austria. The primary varieties
of the winery are the Austrian Zweigelt and St. Laurent, vinified
as "classic" wines in large, venerable vats or as "Reserve"
wines in barrique barrels. The wines are distinguished by their
density, elegant structure, deep fruit, soft tannins and storage
potential. The vast majority of Sattler Vineyard's production
is exported internationally although a good portion is distributed
through local retailers and the winery. You can find Sattler wines
on the wine list of such restaurants like the Wallsee in New York,
the Four Seasons in Amsterdam and La Maison Blanche in Paris.
